Inverness and the Black Isle

Inverness is a vibrant city and is known as the capital of the Scottish Highlands and is situated on the northeast coast of Scotland.

Not only will you experience true highland scenery from iconic castles to majestic mountains (true Outlander scenery) there is a range of activities on your doorstep from hill walking to mountain biking and of course there is an abundance of incredible wildlife from red kites to leaping salmon and a pod of resident dolphins at Chanonry Point.

The Black Isle is a peninsula located north of the city if Inverness. The Cromarty Firth lies to the north, the Moray Firth to the east and the Beauly Firth to the south. The region is well known for its cycling whether that be on a mountain bike, e-bike or for gentle leisure along the quiet back roads and gentle tracks or graded forest trails.

To get close to nature you can explore two nature reserves on the Black Isle - Fairy Glen home to songbirds and Udale bay which provides a habitat for migratory pink-footed geese.

Loch Ness is also in the vicinity so if you are lucky you might get to see the Loch Ness monster.
